Antique Baroque Chalice and Paten Ref 6160
French 19th century Baroque style Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt.
Made by the French silversmith Alexandre Thierry, who worked in Paris betweeen 1823-1853.
Both Chalice & Paten are made from solid silver, hallmarked with the French silver mark, and gilded all over.
The Calix has images of Faith, Hope and Charity, in between which are raised winged Cherub heads.
The stem below the cup has three further winged raised cherub heads.
The knop has three oval images of the Holy Family: Christ, Our Lady and St Joseph.
The circular base has three large images showing the Nativity, the Way of the Cross, and the Crucifixion. Between these pictures are three large raised cherub heads surrounded by clouds.
Around the edge of the base are grapes of the vine, and decorative foliage work.
Chalice comes with solid silver gilt well-design Paten. The Paten has a very finely engraved centre-piece depicting the Deposition of Christ, surrounded by Our Lady, the Disciples and Angels. This image is edged with fine decorative work.
Chalice Height 33cm. Base diameter 17cm. Diameter of top of cup 10.5cm. Diameter of Paten 16.5cm. Overall weight 1,094g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
