Antique Baroque Chalice and Paten Ref 6325
French 19th century Baroque style Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt.
Made by the French silversmiths Favier Freres, who worked in Lyon in the middle part of the 19th century.
Both Chalice & Paten are made from solid silver, hallmarked with the French silver mark, the Favier maker's mark, and gilded all over.
The Calix has raised images of Our Lord, Our Lady & St Joseph, in between which are raised bunches of grapes.
The knop has three raised cherub heads and other decorative work.
The decorative shaped scalloped edged base has scenes depicting the Nativity, the Way of the Cross, and the Crucifixion. Between these pictures are three large raised cherub heads, each with wings.
Around the edge of the base are pairs of cherub heads and other decorative work.
Chalice comes with matching solid silver gilt well-design Paten. The centre of Paten has an engraved design of an IHS with cross, surrounded by crown of thorns.
Chalice Height 30cm. Base diameter 16.5cm. Diameter of top of cup 9.5cm. Diameter of Paten 16cm. Overall weight 722g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
