Antique Baroque Chalice and Paten Ref 7013
French 19th century Baroque style Chalice and Paten in solid silver.
Chalice and Paten made by the French silversmith, Pierre-Henry Favier (1809-1894), who worked in Paris in the second part of the 19th century.
Both Chalice and Paten are made in solid silver. The cup and the Paten are gilded.
Both pieces are marked with the French silver hallmark of the period, and both bear the maker's mark.
Around the calix are large raised oval images depicting the three virtues: Faith, Hope and Charity.
Between these are the Eucharistic symbols of wheat, grapes & bulrushes.
The knop is finished with Baroque style decorative work incorporating Eucharistic symbols of grapes, wheat & bulrushes.
The top part of base has three raised images of Our Lady, Our Lord and St Joseph with the child Jesus, interspersed with Eucharistic symbols.
The edge of the base is in a decorative shape. Around the edge are three pairs of raised Cherub heads.
Between these are Instruments of the Passion: the crown of thorns, the nails, and the whips.
Chalice comes with matching solid silver gilt well-design Paten. The Paten has an engraving of IHS with Cross, Sacred Heart and crown of thorns.
Chalice Height 30.5cm. Base diameter 16cm. Diameter of top of cup 9cm. Diameter of Paten 15.5cm. Overall weight 629g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
