Antique Belgian Gothic Chalice Ref 7504
Antique Belgian Gothic Chalice and Paten with spoon in solid silver gilt dating from around 1905.
Both pieces are made in solid silver and both are gilded throughout. Made by Felix Fallon et fils, a Church Silversmith of Namur in Belgium.
An inscription on the base of the Chalice reads 'Donne par Mr et Mme Comeliau-Malisoux a leur fils Eugene, ordonne Pretre a Liege le 24 Avril 1905'.
The Calix to the Cup is in decorative filigree work.
The circular stem has coloured enamel worked directly on the stem in blue and green.
The knop is made in filigree work; a central band is set with 8 small coloured stones.
The base is in a decorative quatrefoil shape with four large petals.
On each petal is a large round image, these depicting the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, St Augustine and St Aloysuis Gonzaga.
Between these images is decorative scrollage work and four small red oval shaped stones.
The step down to the very bottom is finished with further decoration.
The matching dish shaped Paten is also made in solid silver gilt. It has a small cross with IHS engraved on the top, with a fine engraving of the Victorious Lamb to the bottom.
Also with this Chalice is an attractive Scruple Spoon with twisted stem and decorative top.
Chalice height 23cm. Base diameter 18cm. Diameter of top of cup 11.5cm. Diameter of Paten 16cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 1,014g.
Complete with original lined, fitted carrying case, bearing the maker's name. The case is lockable with working key, and has a brass handle.
