Antique Baroque Chalice and Paten Ref 7189
19th century French Chalice and Paten in Baroque style made in solid silver gilt.
The Chalice and Paten were made by the French Silversmith Alexis Garnier, who worked in Paris in the mid-19th century.
Both Chalice & Paten are made from solid silver and both are gilded all over.
Both pieces have the French silver hallmark of the period, and both bear the maker's name.
The Calix has three scenes from the Passion of Our Lord: Christ at the Temple, The Scourging of Christ and Christ is condemned to Death. Between these scenes are Wheat, Grapes & bulrushes.
The large knop has Baroque style decoration with Eucharistic symbols between.
The base has three large images depicting The Adoration of the Shepherds, the Three Kings and the Flight into Egypt.
Further baroque style decoration completes the base.
Chalice comes with matching solid silver gilt well-design Paten. The centre of Paten has an engraved IHS surrounded with Crown of Thorns.
Chalice Height 29.5cm. Base diameter 15cm. Diameter of top of cup 9cm. Diameter of Paten 15.5cm. Overall weight 596g.
Complete with original carrying case.
