Antique Gothic Chalice and Paten Ref 7651
19th century French Chalice and Paten in Gothic style made in solid silver gilt.
This Chalice and Paten are made from solid silver, gilded all over. Both pieces are hallmarked with the French silver mark of the period, and both the maker's initials 'LG'.
The Calix is made in fine filigree work, with six teardrop shapes, each set with a diamond.
The stem is worked from six small columns, finished with fine engraving work.
The hexagonal knop is set with six coloured circular enamels of flowers.
The six petal pointed base has three pointed oval coloured enamels, each surrounded with fine beading work.
The other three petals are set with filigree work finished with a diamond.
To one side of the base is a cross set with 5 diamonds.
The edge of the base is finished with fine engraving work.
Chalice comes with matching solid silver gilt well-design Paten which fits the Chalice well. The Paten has an engraved design of the Agnus Dei to the centre.
Chalice Height 26.5cm. Base diameter 17cm. Diameter of top of cup 10cm. Diameter of Paten 16cm. Overall weight 658g.
Complete with original lined, fitted carrying case with brass handle and clasps.
