Antique Gothic Chalice and Paten Ref 7385
19th century Belgian Chalice and Paten in Gothic style made in solid silver gilt.
Both pieces made in solid silver throughout, and both are gilded all over.
The cup has Gothic style engraving round the top with the words 'Calicem salutaris accipiam et nomen domini invocabo'.
The decorative calix has coloured red and blue stones, and edged with fine beading work.
The hexagonal stem is finished with Gothic Arches, behind which are deep blue and gold enamels.
The knop has further blue and red stones set in fine beading.
The lower part of the stem is finished with decorative foliage work and leads to the six petalled base.
Each petal is set with a blue and gold enamel, these depicting The Crucifixion, St Francis Xavier, The Angel Gabriel 'Ave Maria Gratia Plena', The Immaculate Conception, St Augustine and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Between each petal is small coloured red or blue stone.
The edge of the base steps down with punched lattice style work and fine beading to the edge.
Chalice comes with matching solid silver gilt dish-design Paten which fits the Chalice well. It has a stylised Gothic IHS engraving to the centre.
Chalice Height 23cm. Base diameter 17cm. Diameter of top of cup 11cm. Diameter of Paten 15cm. Overall weight 941g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
