Antique Gothic Chalice Ref 7527
Antique Dutch Gothic Chalice and Paten with spoon in solid silver gilt.
All pieces are made in solid silver and are gilded throughout. Made by around 1885.
The wide Cup is engraved with 'Calicem salutaris accipiam et nomen domini invocabo' in Gothic style lettering.
At the base of the Cup is the Calix, finished with decorative foliage work.
The hexagonal stem has Gothic arches engraved.
The decorative knop is finished with decoration.
The hexafoil petalled base is finished with a shaped quatrefoil engraving to each petal. These represent the Four Evangelists, the Agnus Dei and the Pious Pelican.
The matching well shaped Paten is also made in solid silver gilt. It has an engraved IHS to the centre. Also with this Chalice is a gilded Scruple Spoon.
Chalice height 21.5cm. Base diameter 16.5cm. Diameter of top of cup 12cm. Diameter of Paten 16cm. Length of spoon 9.5cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 843g.
Complete with original shaped, fitted & lined carrying case.
