Antique Baroque Marian Chalice and Paten Ref 6676
19th century French Chalice and Paten in Baroque style made in solid silver gilt.
Chalice made by the French Silversmith Favier, a family of Silversmiths working in Lyon in the 19th century.
Both Chalice & Paten are made from solid silver and both are hallmarked with the French silver mark. Both pieces are gilded all over.
On the Calix are three large images depicting three of the Doctors of the Church.
The stem is circular in shape, and leads to the decorative knop which is finished with baroque style decoration and engraving.
On the base are three large images, worked in relief, depicting scenes from the Life of Our Lady: The Annunciation, The Betrothal and The Marriage of Our Lady.
The base is round and is finished with baroque style decoration.
Chalice comes with blending solid silver gilt well-design Paten, made by Basnier, a French silversmith from Paris, contemporary to Favier.
The centre of Paten has an engraving of IHS with cross and crown of thorns. The Paten fits the Chalice well.
Chalice Height 30.5cm. Base diameter 15cm. Diameter of top of cup 9cm. Diameter of Paten 17cm. Overall weight 645g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
