Antique Baroque Chalice and Paten Ref 5783
French 19th century Baroque style Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt.
Chalice and Paten both made in France in the mid-late 19th century. Both are made from solid silver, fully hallmarked, which has been gilded all over.
Around the calix are oval raised images of Our Lord, Our Lady and St John the Evangelist, interspersed with raised Cherub heads.
The knop is finished with fine decorative work and beading.
The base has three scenes depicting The Agony in the Garden of Gethsemene, Jesus' fall beneath the Cross and The Crucifixion.
Each scene is surrounded in a baroque style decorative oval shape.
The base is finely scallop-shaped.
Chalice comes with matching solid silver gilt well-design Paten, bearing the same hallmark and silversmith's mark.
The Paten has a fine image of The Last Supper worked in relief, surrounded with fine decorative work.
Chalice Height 33cm. Base diameter 17cm. Diameter of top of cup 10.5cm. Diameter of Paten 18cm. Overall weight 903g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
