Antique Dutch Chalice Ref 7250
Dutch Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt.
Chalice made by the Silversmith Henricus van Gardinge in the later part of the 19th century.
The Chalice and Paten are both made in solid silver, hallmarked throughout with silver mark and both bear the maker's mark.
The large cup of the Chalice is set with a Calix in fine filigree work.
The hexagonal stem has Gothic arches around, with blue enamel background to each Arch.
The knop is set with six red stones, set in fine beading work.
At the base of the stem are six smaller red stones.
The large six petalled base has an image of a Saint on each petal. These include Our Lady, The Sacred Heart of Jesus, St Joseph, St Elizabeth, St Augustine & St James the Elder.
The edge of the base steps down with a Gothic lattice edging.
The matching well-shaped Paten is in solid silver and is gilded all over. It has finely engraved design of the Victorious Lamb.
Chalice height 22cm. Base diameter 18cm. Diameter of top of cup 11cm. Diameter of Paten 14.5cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 814g.
