English Sterling Silver Gothic Revival Chalice, Ref 7738
English Gothic Revival Chalice & Paten in solid sterling silver.
Chalice made by in Birmingham, England in 1937, and has the silversmith's initials 'WFK'.
Chalice and Paten are both hallmarked with English sterling silver hallmarks, and both pieces are gilded throughout.
The stem, knop & base of this Chalice are made entirely in Gothic tracery work, producing a very fine effect.
The cup is very lightly hammer beaten and otherwise it is plain.
There are numerous precious stones on the knop & base, including numerous Sapphires and Diamonds.
The shaped hexafoil petalled base has a blue sapphire on each petal, with diamonds round the edge. The knop has a diamond on each of the six sides.
The blending dish shaped Paten is in solid sterling silver throughout (made in London 1938). It is gilded all over and has a lightly hammer beaten finish to the underside. It fits the Chalice well.
Chalice height 22cm. Base diameter 18.5cm. Diameter of top of cup 12.5cm. Diameter of Paten 16cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 987g.
The Chalice comes complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
