Antique Baroque Chalice and Paten Ref 8440
19th century French Chalice and Paten in Baroque style made in solid silver gilt.
The Chalice was made in France by the Silversmith Marie Thierry who worked in Paris from 1853 to 1885.
The Chalice and Paten have the French silver hallmark of the period, and both pieces also bear their makers' marks.
The Calix has three raised figures depicting The Holy Family. Between these are Eucharistic symbols of wheat and grapes.
The stem is highly decorative in Baroque style and has a large knop, set with Eucharistic symbols of bulrushes and grapes.
The shaped trefoil base has three large raised images depicting The Pious Pelican, The Crucifix with Passion Instruments and the Agnus Dei.
Rich baroque decoration complete the edge of the base.
Chalice comes with blending solid silver gilt well-design Paten. The centre of Paten has a large raised scene of The Last Supper, with bead edging all round.
Chalice Height 31.5cm. Base diameter 17cm. Diameter of top of cup 9.5cm. Diameter of Paten 18cm. Overall weight 1,055g.
Complete with brand new lined carrying case.
