Antique French Gothic Chalice Ref 7154

19th century French Gothic Chalice and matching Paten made in solid silver gilt.
Chalice and Paten made by the highly renowned French silversmith partnership, Armand-Calliat, worked in France in the second half of the 19th century.
The Chalice and Paten are both made in solid silver, gilded all over. Both pieces are hallmarked throughout with the French silver hallmark of the period.
The Chalice is decorated throughout with fine enamel work mainly in turquoise, blue and white, set with fine beading.
The Calix has three enamelled images of three Saints set between decorative work.
The hexafoil shaped stem is finished with engraving, and the central knop is finely engraved and finished with enamel and fine beading.
The pointed hexafoil petalled base has more enamel work and engraving, with three turquoise enamels of Our Lord, Our Lady and St Joseph.
The matching well shaped Paten is made in solid silver & is gilded all over. It has an engraved Gothic IHS engraved in the centre.
Chalice height 24.5cm. Base diameter 15.5cm. Diameter of top of cup 10cm. Diameter of Paten 15.5cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 1,040g.
