Antique French Gothic Chalice Ref 7095
19th century French Gothic Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt.
The Chalice with blending Paten are both made in solid silver, hallmarked throughout, and both pieces are gilded all over.
The Chalice is made by the French Silversmith, Marie Thierry, who worked in Paris in the second part of the 19th century.
The Calix is finished with three raised images depicting Faith, Hope & Charity, with decorative work between.
The hexagonal stem is finished with Gothic style arches engraved. The six-sided knop is finished with stylised Gothic crosses and engraving.
The petalled base has six raised images depicting various Saints: Our Lord, Our Lady & Child, St Joseph, St Peter, St Paul & St Augustine.
The edge of the base is finished with decorative work.
The blending well shaped Paten is also made in solid silver gilt and was made in France in the same period. It fits the Chalice well. It has an fine engraving of an IHS set in a Gothic style cross.
Chalice height 25.5cm. Base diameter 16cm. Diameter of top of cup 9.5cm. Diameter of Paten 14.5cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 792g.
Complete with brand new lined & fitted carrying case.
