Antique French Gothic Chalice Ref 8382

Antique French Gothic Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt.
Chalice & Paten made in France by French Silversmiths Jamain & Chevron who worked in Paris in the latter part of the 19th century.
Both pieces are made in solid silver, gilded throughout.
Both are hallmarked with the French silver hallmark of the period and both have the maker's marks.
The calix to the cup is made in decorative lattice work with six panels.
The hexagonal stem is set with a central knop with six hexagonal lozenges with blue enamels spelling 'JESUS+'.
The hexafoil petalled base has three large statues including Our Lord and Our Lady.
Between these statues are three coloured quatrefoil enamels worked on blue, depicting The Crucifixion with two Angels.
The edge of the base steps down with punched crosses worked in and fine beading to the very edge.
The matching dish shaped is also made in solid silver gilt. It has a large enamel to the centre of a Gothic IHS worked on deep blue.
Chalice height 27.5cm. Base diameter 17cm. Diameter of top of cup 10.5cm. Diameter of Paten 16cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 1,208g.
Complete with original lined, fitted carrying case.
