Antique French Gothic Chalice Ref 8428
Antique French Gothic Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt.
Chalice and Paten both made in France by the French Silversmith family Favier Freres who worked in Lyon during the 19th century.
Both pieces are made in solid silver, gilded throughout.
Both are hallmarked with the French silver hallmark of the period and both have the maker's marks.
The calix to the cup is set with six raised figures, these depict Christ the King, Our Lady and St Joseph, with three Angels between.
The hexagonal stem has Gothic style arches worked on it. The central circular knop is finished with six diamond shaped lozenges, engraved.
The decorative hexafoil petalled base has six further raised figures of Saints.
The matching well shaped Paten is also made in solid silver gilt and fits the Chalice well. It has a large scene of the Last Supper worked on the back.
Chalice height 29cm. Base diameter 18cm. Diameter of top of cup 10cm. Diameter of Paten 16cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 1,023g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
