Antique French Gothic Chalice Ref 8498
Antique French Gothic Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt.
Chalice & Paten made in France by highly renowned French Silversmith Placide Poussielgue-Rusand(1824-1889).
Both pieces are made in solid silver, gilded throughout.
Both are hallmarked with the French silver hallmark of the period and both have the maker's mark.
The calix to the cup is made in decorative floral work throughout.
The stem is circular with a hexagonal section to the centre. The two central knops are both finished with decoration.
The circular base is finished with swathes of flowers and crosses in semi-circular surrounds, with fine beading to finish.
The matching well shaped Paten is also made in solid silver gilt and fits the Chalice well. It has an engraved IHS design to the centre.
Chalice height 24.5cm. Base diameter 13.5cm. Diameter of top of cup 9.5cm. Diameter of Paten 13.5cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 822g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
