Antique French Gothic Chalice Ref 6001
19th century French Gothic Chalice in solid silver gilt.
Made by the French silversmiths Jules Jamain and Eugene Chevron, who worked together in Paris, France during the years 1865-1879.
The Chalice and Paten are made in solid silver, hallmarked throughout, and both pieces are gilded all over.
Around the base, are coloured oval shaped enamels depicting Our Lady, St Joseph, and Our Lord. Between the enamels is fine engraving work on the theme of grapes, wheat and bullrushes.
The base has a decorative hexafoil shape set with decorations and finished with a small blue enamel cross.
Around the knop and stem are Gothic style decorations.
The cup is finished with fine engraving, reflecting the same Eucharistic themes used on the base.
The matching well shaped Paten has a fine engraving of the Victorious Lamb in the centre.
Chalice height 24cm. Base diameter 15.5cm. Diameter of top of cup 10cm. Diameter of Paten 14.5cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 635g.
Complete with brand new fitted, lined carrying case.
