Irish Sterling Silver Ciborium Ref 8436
Irish solid sterling silver Ciborium, made in Dublin in 1910 by John Smyth & Co.
The Ciborium is completely solid silver. It bears the sterling silver hallmark throughout and the maker's mark.
The inside of the bowl and lid are gilded.
The lid is surmounted with a decorative cross.
The calix to the bowl has a garland finished with beading to the top and alternating panels of grapes & wheat
The circular stem is finished with fine engraving work. The central knop has six flowers worked in teardrop shapes.
The hexafoil petalled base has six panels, worked with a Cross, IHS, with grapes and wheat between.
The edge of the base steps down and has beading round the bottom edge.
Overall Height to top of cross 28cm. Diameter of base 14.5cm; diameter of top of bowl 11cm. Overall weight 715g.
Ciborium comes complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
