Antique Gothic Passion Chalice Ref 8351
Antique Gothic Passion Chalice and Paten in solid silver gilt.
Both pieces are made in solid silver, gilded throughout.
The calix to the cup has three large scenes from the Passion, depicting The Last Supper, Jesus condemned to Death and the Scourging at the Pillar.
The large central knop has images of the Passion including the whip, the spear and Veronica's veil, all set with winged cherubs.
The main part of the base is circular and has a frieze of further Passion scenes incorporating The Way of the Cross and The Crucifixion.
The edge of the base is hexafoil pointed and is finished with decoration.
The blending dish shaped Paten is Sterling Silver English, made in Birmingham in 1972 by AE Jones. It has an engraved cross to the centre and fits the Chalice well.
Chalice height 27cm. Base diameter 16.5cm. Diameter of top of cup 9.5cm. Diameter of Paten 14.5cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 1,145g.
The Chalice comes complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
