English Gothic Chalice & Paten in solid sterling silver.
Chalice made by J Whitehouse & Son in Birmingham, England, in 1931.
Blending Paten of the same period, made in London in 1935 by George Henry Hart of the Guild of Handicraft.
Chalice and Paten are both hallmarked with English sterling silver hallmarks, and both bear their respective maker's marks.
The cup is finished with a Gothic style inscription 'calicem salutaris accipiam et nomen domini invocabo'. The cup is gilded inside.
The hexagonal stem leads to the knop which is set with six roundels, each displaying a Fleur de Lys.
The stem steps down to the hexafoil petalled base.
The base is finished with decorative work, incorporating Fleur de Lys all round the inner circle.
The blending dish shaped Paten is in solid silver, gilded all over. It has a Gothic style IHS engraved to the underside. It fits the Chalice well.
Chalice height 19.5cm. Base diameter 13cm. Diameter of top of cup 10cm. Diameter of Paten 12.5cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 611g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
