English Sterling Silver Ciborium Ref 8817
English solid sterling silver Ciborium, made in London in 1943.
The Ciborium is completely solid silver. It bears the sterling silver hallmark and maker's mark as JW&S.
The inside of the bowl and lid are gilded.
The lid is surmounted with a four-sided cross, and is edged with beading round the bottom edge.
The calix to the bowl has panels with alternating flowers and leaves to decorate.
The circular stem has a central decorative knop.
The base is in hexafoil petalled form. It is finished with Gothic style crosses and initials.
Overall Height to top of cross 28cm. Diameter of base 15cm; diameter of top of bowl 12cm; depth of bowl 9.5cm. Overall weight 863g.
