English Sterling Silver Gilt Chalice & Paten Ref 9009
English Gothic Chalice & Paten in solid sterling silver gilt.
Chalice and Paten made in Sheffield, England, in 1905, by the silversmiths Atkin Brothers.
Chalice and Paten are both hallmarked with English sterling silver hallmarks, and both bear the maker's mark.
The cup to the Chalice is plain, with a small calix design at the base of the cup.
The hexagonal stem is set with a large hexafoil knop. This has 5 large opals set round, with the sixth side set with diamonds.
The hexafoil petalled base has 5 circular Limoges enamels, mostly worked on a deep red background. These include The Crucifixion, Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, and three Saints.
On the sixth petal is a Cameo of Our Lord with the crown of thorns.
A cross formed from diamonds sits above the Crucifixion.
The matching dish shaped Paten is in solid silver, gilded all over. It fits the Chalice well.
Chalice height 20.5cm. Base diameter 17cm. Diameter of top of cup 11cm. Diameter of Paten 14cm. Overall weight of Chalice & Paten 1,058g.
Chalice comes complete with brand new lined, fitted carrying case.
