Antique solid silver Sunburst Monstrance Ref 7096
Solid silver gilt 19th century French sunburst Monstrance, complete with solid silver Lunette and original fitted carrying case.
The Monstrance & Lunette are made in silver, gilded throughout. Both are hallmarked with the French 19th century silver mark, & bear the maker's initials 'PN'.
The sunburst is surmounted with decorative filigree to the front & back, this incorporating grapes in the design. The front filigree is set with large coloured stones.
Around the central glass are set diamante effect stones, surrounded with a gold and white enamel bearing the text 'Ecce Panis Angelorum Factus Cibus Viatorum'.
The sunburst is surmounted with an ornate decorative cross, set in the centre with round enamel of the Agnus Dei in gold, blue & white, with the text 'Agnus Dei Panis Vivus'.
The stem is in Gothic style set with Gothic arches and pinnacles.
The central knop is finished with large coloured stones.
The hexafoil petalled base is finished with decorative engraving work, with each petal having a large coloured Gothic style cross enamel.
The Monstrance comes complete with matching solid silver gilt Lunette, enclosed with glass. The internal diameter of the Lunette is 6.7cm.
The Monstrance height is 71cm. The width across the sunburst top is 36cm & the base is 23cm across the maximum points. The weight of the Monstrance is 2,220g.
Included is a gilded standing Pyx, as illustrated, which fits the Lunette well.
The Monstrance has its original lined, fitted case.
