German Gothic Gilt Monstrance Ref 8357
German brass gilt 19th century antique Monstrance in Gothic style, complete with Pyx, Lunette and Case.
The Monstrance was made by Alois Kreiten who worked in Cologne, Germany from 1888 onwards. It is made in brass gilt.
It is made in Gothic style, finished with Gothic style pinnacles, arches & decoration.
Under the Canopy at the top is a figure of The Sacred Heart of Jesus, silver plated.
Either side of the gloria are two further silver plated figures of Our Lady and St Joseph.
The circular Gloria is surrounded with filigree work. The centre has engraving with 'Sanctus Sanctus Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth', interspersed with red stones.
Directly below the gloria is a star set with diamonds. hanging to the sides of this are emblems of IHS and PAX, Alpha & Omega.
The circular stem has a central knop finished with engraving and four diamond shaped lozenges engraved with Gothic style crosses.
The hexagonal petalled base is finished with engraving work to each petal.
The Monstrance comes with a brass gilt Pyx, which is engraved to the front with a decorative cross design. The base is engraved with the same design as the Monstrance base.
The Lunette is enclosed, and fits both Monstrance & Pyx.
The Monstrance height is 62cm. The width across the centre part is 22cm & the base is 21cm across the widest point. The Lunette inside of the Lunette measures 7.5cm maximum.
The Pyx is 25cm high, the width of the base is 15.5cm, and the width of the top is 14cm at the maximum point.
The weight of the Monstrance is 1,734g.
The Monstrance has its original lined, fitted case, presented in good condition.
