Ref 4881 - exceptional quality Low Mass Set from 19th century France, made on deep red velvet, over which every inch is covered in detailed ornate gold embroidery.
The centre-piece on the back of the Chasuble is of Jesus the Good Shepherd, worked in fine coloured silk thread.
The set was designed by J-A Henry, a very important and famous 19th century vestment designer from Lyon, France.
The design is featured in Bernard Berthod's book 'Dictionnaire des Arts Liturgiques' covering the best ecclesiastical art of 19th century France.
The set comprises all 5 original pieces - Chasuble, Stole, Maniple, Chalice Veil & Burse, all of which are entirely covered in rich gold embroidery.
All the pieces are lined in red quilted lining, with crosses stitched into the quilting work (as pictured above).
The set is presented in excellent condition, and has clearly been very well cared for.
