Antique French Gothic Ciborium Ref 7821
Ornate French Gothic 19th Century Ciborium made in solid silver gilt.
This Ciborium is made from solid silver and is gilded all over. It bears the French silver hallmark of the period, and the maker's initials 'AM'.
The lid is finished with Gothic style decoration, with six crosses sets in roundels. The cross on top of the lid is large and ornate.
The calix to the bowl has Gothic style crosses worked in the ornate design all round.
The circular stem has decorative engraving, and there is a large central knop.
The hexafoil petalled base is set with six roundels, with the instruments of the passion (Nails, Hammer, Whip) interspersed with Gothic style crosses between.
The edge of the base steps down with small crosses worked all round.
Overall Height to top of cross 34cm. Diameter of base 15.5cm; diameter of bowl 12cm; internal depth of bowl 7cm. Overall weight 740g.
