Antique French Gothic Ciborium Ref 8007
Ornate French Gothic 19th Century Ciborium made in solid silver gilt.
Ciborium made by the highly respected French Silversmith Placide Pussielgue-Rusand (1824-1889).
This Ciborium is made from solid silver and is gilded all over. It bears the French silver hallmark of the period, and the maker's name.
The lid is finished with six colourful Gothic style circular enamels, each set on a petal.
The lid is surmounted with an engraved Gothic style cross.
The bowl has four enamels in blue and gold, depicting the Old Testament Prophets Isiah, Jeremiah, Daniel and Ezechiel. There are two further Gothic style coloured enamels.
The hexagonal stem is finished with Gothic style engraving, and the central knop is set with six coloured Gothic design enamels.
The hexafoil petalled base is set with further enamels. These depict the Four Evangelists in blue and gold, with two further enamels in coloured Gothic designs.
The edge of the base steps down with Gothic tracery work.
Overall Height to top of cross 21.5cm. Diameter of base 10cm; diameter of bowl 8cm; internal depth of bowl 4.5cm. Overall weight 367g.
Complete with brand new lined, fitted case for carrying and storage.
