French Silver Ciborium Ref 8457
French 20th century Ciborium in solid silver.
Hallmarked with the French silver hallmark and maker's mark throughout. The bowl & lid are gilded inside.
The lid has an engraved frieze round reading 'Hic Est Panis Qui De Caelo Descendit'. The lid is surmounted with a decorative cross.
The bowl has a Gothic text round reading 'Ecce Agnus Dei Ecce Qui Tollit Peccata Mundi'.
The circular stem has a decorative central knop.
The circular base has further engraving of 'Panem Coelestem Accipiam Et Nomen Domini Invocabo'.
Overall Height to top of cross 22.5cm. Diameter of base 11cm; diameter of bowl 8.5cm; internal depth of bowl 5cm. Overall weight 394g.
