English Sterling Silver Gilt Ciborium Ref 7054
English solid sterling silver Ciborium, made in London in 1911. by the Silversmith Frederick Dendy Wray.
The Ciborium is completely solid silver, and is gilded all over. It bears the sterling silver hallmark and maker's mark throughout.
The lid is finished with decorative work to the centre, and a four-sided cross on top.
Round the edge of the lid is fine engraving work incorporating grapes.
The large bowl is plain and leads to the hexagonal stem.
The decorative knop is finished with engraving.
The six petalled base is set with dark red garnet stones and is finished with engraving work.
Overall Height to top of cross 26cm. Diameter of base 13.5cm; diameter of top of bowl 10.5cm. Overall weight 586g.
