Antique solid silver Sunburst Monstrance Ref 7874

Solid silver gilt 19th century French sunburst Monstrance, complete with solid silver Lunette and original fitted carrying case.
Made in solid silver and gilded throughout, the Monstrance & Lunette are hallmarked throughout with the French 19th century silver mark and bear the maker's initials 'FFD'.
The Monstrance is finished throughout with fine enamels and decoration.
The top part of the Monstrance is a sunburst, with decorative rays and a facia.
Round the sunburst are six pointed oval shaped enamels worked on deep blue backgrounds. These include The Sacred Heart of Mary, The Sacred Heart of Jesus, St Joseph & St Francis of Assisi.
The central gloria is edged with fine beading and Gothic decoration. The top of the Monstrance has a large decorative cross.
The reverse side of the Gloria is decorated with six pointed oval shaped fleur de lys engraved all round.
Leading to the circular stem is a sheaves of wheat design and crown.
A decorative knop is on the middle of the stem, with engraving below.
The hexafoil petalled base stands on three decorative feet with bunches of grapes set between.
The top part of the base has six further enamels worked on deep blue, including The Agnus Dei, St Michael the Archangel, St Charles Borromeo and St Anthony of Padua.
The Monstrance comes complete with solid silver Lunette, fully enclosed with glass on both sides.
The height is 61cm. The width across the sunburst top is 31.5cm & the base is 22.5cm across the maximum points. The internal diameter of the Lunette is 6cm. The weight of the Monstrance is 1,240g.
The Monstrance has its original lined, fitted case.
