Antique Gothic Sunburst Monstrance Ref 7492
Brass 19th century sunburst Monstrance, complete with Lunette, Pyx and original fitted carrying case.
The Monstrance was made around 1883, and bears a dedication inscription on the underside from this date.
The Monstrance is made in brass and is gilded all over.
The sunburst is finished with a circle of coloured Gothic style enamel work, set with small red stones in gilded flowers.
The sunburst is surmounted with an engraved decorative cross, with a red stone to the centre.
The hexagonal stem is engraved throughout, and the central knop is set with six stones.
The hexafoil petalled base has six oval shaped stones, and is finished with decorative engraving work, with each petal having a large coloured Gothic style enamel.
The Monstrance stands on three decorative feet.
The matching Pyx & Lunette come with the Monstrance, the Pyx having an engraved IHS to the door. Both are gilded throughout. The Lunette fits the Monstrance & the Pyx well.
The Monstrance height is 63cm. The width across the sunburst top is 31cm & the base is 20.5cm across the maximum points. The weight of the Monstrance is 1,950g.
The Pyx measures 20cm in height. The Lunette would take a host of up to 6.5cm diameter.
The Monstrance has its original lined, fitted case.
