Antique Gothic Silver Gilt Monstrance Ref 7755
Solid silver gilt Monstrance in Gothic style, complete with Lunette, Pyx and Case.
The Monstrance was made in Brussels, Belgium, and bears the maker's name reading 'Billaux-B...'
The Monstrance is made in solid silver and is gilded all over.
It is made in Gothic style, with numerous Gothic pinnacles, arches and decoration.
The top of the Monstrance is surmounted with a cross finished small diamonds.
Under the central arch at the top is a standing figure of The Sacred Heart of Jesus. Below this to each side, are figures of winged Angels.
To the sides of the Gloria are standing figures of St Joseph and the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady.
The circular Gloria is surrounded with filigree work and diamonds. Behind the Gloria are Gothic arches and punched fleur de lys.
The hexagonal stem is finished with Gothic engraving work. The central knop has six circular lozenges with the word 'JESUS +'
The hexagonal petalled base is finished with a quatrefoil roundel to each petal. These depict Saints including St Joseph, St Vincent de Paul and St Ignatius de Loyola.
The Monstrance height is 55cm. The width across the centre part is 22cm & the base is 16.5cm diameter. The Gloria measures 7.5cm internally.
The matching solid silver gilt Pyx has an engraved Gothic IHS to the door, and a hexafoil petalled base. The Pyx measures 16cm in height. The solid silver gilt Lunette fits both the Pyx & Monstrance well.
The total combined weight of the Monstrance with Pyx & Lunette, is 2,529g.
The Monstrance has its original lined, fitted case.
